Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon (thin bacon works best)
  • 16 dates
  • 4 oz / 115 g goat cheese
  • toothpicks

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 degrees Celsius). Slice each date lengthwise on one side to open it, then remove the pit.
  2. Fill the cavity of each date with a small amount of goat cheese using a spoon, then gently press the sides together to close the opening.
  3. Cut the bacon slices in half. Wrap each date with one bacon piece and secure it with a toothpick.
Baking
  1. Place the wrapped dates evenly on a baking sheet with raised edges and bake for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove the dates from the oven and turn each one onto its side using the toothpick. Bake for another 5-8 minutes, then turn the dates to the opposite side and repeat until the bacon is browned to your preference.
  3. Transfer the baked dates to a paper towel lined plate and allow them to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
