Ingredients

For the Blueberry Syrup
  • 1.5 cups frozen blueberries Can substitute with fresh blueberries
  • 1/3 cup sugar Adjust to desired sweetness
  • 3 tablespoons warm water Use to help dissolve sugar
For the Matcha Latte
  • 1-2 tablespoons matcha powder Use 1 tablespoon for a milder flavor, 2 for stronger
  • 1/4 cup hot water Water should be just off the boil
  • 1/2-3/4 cup oat milk Can substitute with any dairy or dairy alternative

Method

Prepare the Blueberry Syrup
  1. Place the frozen blueberries in a large jar and cover with sugar and warm water.
  2. Refrigerate for 4-6 hours or overnight to allow the sugar to draw out the juices.
  3. Stir the mixture well and add more water if you prefer a less sweet syrup. Alternatively, muddle or microwave thawed blueberries to speed up the process.
Prepare the Matcha
  1. Heat the hot water in a small jar.
  2. Add the matcha powder, cover, and shake until smooth.
Assemble the Latte
  1. Fill a large glass with ice.
  2. Pour the matcha over the ice, then slowly pour the oat milk over the back of a spoon to maintain distinct layers.
  3. Finally, pour a tablespoon or two of the blueberry syrup into the glass and watch it sink.
  4. Stir before serving to blend the flavors.

Notes

Serve chilled and pair with light pastries. Store leftover syrup in a sealed jar for up to 7 days. Assemble the drink just before serving for best flavor. Adjust sweetness by varying syrup amount.
