Ingredients

Wet ingredients
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ⅔ cup unpacked brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup smooth peanut butter (chunky peanut butter also works)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
Dry ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup each M&M’s, chopped dark chocolate, chopped Butterfinger

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Cream the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together until smooth. Add the peanut butter, vanilla, and egg, then mix until well combined.
  3. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt separately, then stir the mixture into the wet ingredients just until moistened. Fold in the oats and candies until evenly distributed.
  4. Place rounded spoonfuls of dough onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges begin to brown.
  2. Leave the cookies on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

The Butterfinger pieces may have a chewy, unusual texture immediately after baking. They become crisp again as the cookies cool.
