- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and ginger, cooking briefly until fragrant.
- Stir in the five-spice, soy sauce, chili paste, and ground pork. Break up the pork as it cooks until it is browned and fully cooked.
- Add the shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix and carrots to the skillet. Toss the vegetables with the pork mixture until they become tender-crisp.
- Serve the skillet mixture over rice with green onions and Sriracha, if desired.
Notes
Five-spice: This recipe can be made without it, but it adds a distinctive flavor. The hint of anise in the blend helps give the dish a more traditional egg roll taste.
