  • 1 pound fresh green beans Trimmed and blanched
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk Use half-and-half for richer flavor
  • 1 cup fried onions Divided for mixing and topping
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese Optional for added flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Trim and blanch the green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Mix in the blanched green beans and half of the fried onions.
  5. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and top with the remaining fried onions.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
  2. Serve warm.

Notes

For a fresher flavor, serve with a green salad. To store, refrigerate for up to 3 days in an airtight container, or freeze unbaked for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
