Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with the flour. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 70-80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve slices at room temperature for the best texture. Store the whole cake at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer storage. Freezing individual slices is also an option, wrapped well to avoid drying.
